About

Sofie Birch is an ambient multi-instrumentalist and vocalist with a very special sense of building harmonious and yet complex musical spaces with a mixture of electronic hardware, acoustic instruments and field recordings.

Based on a profound interest in the healing nature of sound and vibrations, her music produces dreamlike, meditative states in the listener and her live shows are often built up with scenographic elements and costumes that fuse space and sound into an enveloping aesthetic experience.

​

In 2022, Sofie Birch produced the solo album Holotropica and the album Languoria in collaboration with the Polish vocalist Antonina Nowacka. Both albums garnered great praise, both nationally and internationally.

​

She has performed at a large number of major international and national festivals such as CTM, CPH:DOX, Unsound and venues such as The Barbican and King's Place with Laura Misch and has also worked with sound and compositions for award-winning art installations and animated films.

​

In addition, Sofie Birch publishes a monthly mix under the title Ambient Abracadabra, on the global radio platform, NTS and has recently played both solo and with Antonina Nowacka on, among others, Roskilde Festival, Unsound Festival in Australia, Bloom and Øhavet Festival. In 2024, Sofie Birch sold out the headliner concert at Casa Montjuic in Barcelona, ​​played at the Intonal Festival and at the Munch Museet in Oslo together with AlaBaster De Plume.

Sofie also works with sound healing for groups and has a sound healing certificate from Amsterdam based Stacey Griffin that qualifies her to do sound ceremonies, most recently with Rosangela Acosta at Shamballa Space in Copenhagen.
