Sofie Birch is a sound artist and performer working with vibration and listening as a way to shift perception, soften attention, and open new ways of experiencing life.
Ambient Abracadabra is her evolving sound practice, unfolding between radio, live performance, and immersive environments. It treats listening as a space in itself—where sound, atmosphere, and attention gently reshape presence.
She has more than ten years of experience composing music for theatre, film, and art installations, and her work has been recognised through awards, residencies, and critical acclaim.
Sofie performs internationally as a solo artist and in collaboration with Antonina Nowacka.
Alongside her artistic practice, she runs a sound studio and garden on a small island outside Copenhagen with her partner, Anders Christophersen.
Ambient Abracadabra is a sound-based artistic practice by Sofie Birch that moves between radio, live performance, installation, and immersive spatial experiences.
It explores listening as a creative and perceptual practice—where sound becomes a way of shaping atmosphere, attention, and shared presence.
The radio show swirls you into a curious ambient vacuum of unreleased music and carefully selected tunes from all over the world. Sofie invites you into her personal journey and inspires through book reccomendations, new discoveries and podcast gems.

For me, Ambient Abracadabra reflects working with sound as something that shapes experience in real time—through voice, vibration, and attention.
The observer and the observed are not separate, but part of the same unfolding process.
Spaces for transformation
At the core of Sofie Birch’s practice is an ongoing inquiry into spirituality, perception, and interconnectedness. Her work unfolds where artistic practice, inner inquiry, and the intelligence of nature meet.
Nature is both source and collaborator in her process.
Her second home, on the island of Fejø, serves as a place for deep work and reconnection, while her interest in flower essences and natural medicine evolves alongside a meditation practice she carries with her everywhere.
With a background in sound design and electronic music, her practice extends beyond sound alone. She works with sound as a sensorial and energetic material, while also engaging with visual and spatial elements such as costumes, stage design, and varied listening environments — from acoustic settings to multichannel systems.
Her work offers spaces for presence, deep listening, and subtle transformation, supporting a conscious and curious collaboration with the life force energy.
